In order to serve as a College Fair representive, all volunteers must:

  • Have an undergraduate degree from Washington University or have a child who currently attends Washington University.
  • Take a one-year leave of absence if you have a child who is a high school senior. Please email the College Fair office if this applies to you.
  • Understand the Washington University Code of Conduct, and all interactions with WashU prospects/applicants, whether in-person or virtual, will be conducted appropriately as a representative of the university.
  • Enjoy speaking with high school students and be willing to enthusiastically share your WashU experiences with them.
  • Check your email on a regular basis.
  • Log into the Volunteer Portal annually to update contact information and volunteer preferences.
  • Review all applicable training materials.
  • Not make any indication of admissibility to applicants.
  • Respect those who are different from you and set aside personal biases.
  • Not use contact information of other volunteers for business or commercial purposes, as outlined in the Terms and Conditions of Use.
  • If you work as an independent college counselor, you may not advertise your business while representing WashU. Any perspectives on WashU shared at events should be limited to your experience as an alum and/or parent of a current student, not your experience as an independent college counselor.
  • Agree that all information available through the Volunteer Portal is confidential and should not be shared with anyone outside of the College Fair office. Any unauthorized use of, access to, or disclosure of information, whether voluntary or involuntary, is strictly prohibited.
  • Report any incidents or interactions of concern to the College Fair office immediately.

Any volunteer who violates these eligibility requirements may be removed as a College Fair representative.
