Message from the chair

As I begin my tenure as chair of the Alumni Board of Governors, I am excited to serve as one of the voices of our alumni community and to help guide the work of the WashU Alumni Association. I am very proud to count myself among the global community of more than 150,000 WashU alumni.

Under the leadership of Chancellor Andrew D. Martin, the university’s future is bright, and our alumni community is engaged and committed to the success of our mission. With You: The WashU Campaign was launched in May 2025, and I am energized by the scope and mission of this multiyear, comprehensive fundraising effort. With You will enable us to implement the blueprint for our future, outlined in our 10-year strategic vision, Here and Next — instated in October 2022.

Alumni are a key part of the university community. We are connected by our shared love of WashU and its students. If you enjoy helping current students or other alumni by providing career advice, mentorship, and networking opportunities, please consider joining WashU CNX, the university’s online networking and mentorship platform. Your participation is of tremendous value to our students and our larger WashU community.

If you would like to connect in other ways, I encourage you to explore WashU networks and available volunteer opportunities. Or attend an upcoming event, where you can meet fellow members of our community of WashU alumni, parents, and friends. We look forward to seeing you!

Best wishes,

Dean T. Yamamoto, BS ’87, JD ’90
