Looking back at 2016

Congratulations to the Class of 2016
More than 2,900 WashU undergraduate, graduate, and professional students will enter Brookings Quadrangle as degree candidates and leave as graduates after Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton confers their degrees. The Class of 2016 will be surrounded by more than 12,000 family members, friends, faculty, staff, administrators, university trustees and members of the Class of 1966.

Photo editor sees university through a different lens
Here’s what senior Stephen Huber learned as Student Life senior photo editor. The lighting in Umrath Lounge is the worst. The best place to shoot volleyball is from the second tier of the Field House. And the worldviews of WashU students are way more diverse than most realize.

A Legacy of leadership
WashU senior class president Christine Lung started her long career in student government in sixth grade. A footbridge near her school was damaged and Lung helped organize a petition, calling for repairs. It worked. “That was the first time I realized I could be an advocate for students,” Lung said. “I also discovered that I loved bringing students together to have fun.”
