Reunion at Thurtene Carnival is packed with exciting events on campus and around St. Louis, but there are a few extra-special reunion experiences you don’t want to miss. These signature events include the Welcome Back Party and the Alumni BBQ, and – of course – your Class of 2017 Party! We’re eagerly working on a full schedule, so check back in early 2027 to read about all the receptions, tours, and events we have planned.
Class of 2017 Party
Reconnect with the Class of 2017. Enjoy an open bar, gourmet food stations, a DJ, and fun photo opportunities while sharing memories with old friends.
Saturday Night After-Party
The Class of 2017 reunion committee invites 10th reunion celebrants to join classmates following Saturday night’s Class Party. Join for a night cap, to reconnect with friends, great conversation, or simply to extend the fun. Classmates will gather for an informal meet-up immediately following the Class Party. No need to register. Just attend. Pay-as-you-go bar.

Day one of reunion concludes with our signature Welcome Back Party. As the sun sets, catch up with old friends over heavy appetizers, desserts, and beer, wine, and soda.
Alumni BBQ
Saturday, April 17 • Afternoon
Join classmates and their families for a fun-filled afternoon of great BBQ catered by Pappy’s Smokehouse. Beer, wine, and soda will be complimentary.
Goodbye Brunch
Sunday, April 19 • Morning
Gather with friends once more and toast to a successful reunion weekend. Enjoy classic brunch favorites and, of course, mimosas and Bloody Marys.

In celebration of the Class of 2016’s 10th Reunion, Colleen Conrado Ferguson, BFA ’06, and Tom Ferguson, MBA ’08, JD ’08, are pleased to offer a special class challenge. Their generous $500,000 commitment will match, dollar for dollar, all new, renewed, and multi-year pledge gifts made in honor of reunion.
WashU has played a meaningful role in both Colleen’s and Tom’s lives. Colleen’s undergraduate experience as a member of the Class of 2016 established a lifelong connection to the university, while Tom’s time as a graduate and law student further deepened their shared WashU ties.

Kahlil Robert Irving, MFA ’17, had his show “EF3+E40” on display September–October 2025 at CANADA gallery in New York City. The pieces in the show blur the line between the natural world, built environments and the digital landscape.
Beth Miller, MA ’17, penned The Most Painful Choice: A Dog Owner’s Story of Behavioral Euthanasia (McFarland Publishing, March 2023), which tells her family’s experience with Champ, a rescued German shepherd.
Yifan Diao, MS ’17, PhD ’21, was named to the Top 30 Under 30 list by the 2023 All-American Chinese Youth Federation (AACYF).
Amanda Palucki, AB ’17, was chosen by the Knowles Teacher Initiative as a member of its 2023 Cohort of Teaching Fellows. The Knowles Teaching Fellows Program is an intensive five-year program for early career high school mathematics and science teachers who are collaborative, innovative leaders working toward improving education
Looking back at 2017
Welcome, Class of 2017!
About 1,600 freshmen moved onto the Washington University campus last week to begin their college careers. Upperclass student volunteers help new students get settled (including a five-day series of programs called Bear Beginnings) and adjust to their first year of college life. Classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 27. Check out more photos, videos and other moments from the first day’s events.

‘Take the leap,’ Quindlen tells Class of 2017
Anna Quindlen admitted she barely remembered the words spoken by acclaimed anthropologist Margaret Mead at her own commencement from Barnard College in 1974. “Everyone is here for the sake of just a few words: the name of someone they love, or their own name,” Quindlen told the Washington University in St. Louis Class of 2017.
