Reunion at Thurtene Carnival is packed with exciting events on campus and around St. Louis, but there are a few extra-special reunion experiences you don’t want to miss. These signature events include the Welcome Back Party and the Alumni BBQ, and – of course – your Class of 2002 Party! We’re eagerly working on a full schedule, so check back in early 2027 to read about all the receptions, tours, and events we have planned.
Class of 2002 Party
Reconnect with the Class of 2002. Enjoy an open bar, gourmet food stations, a DJ, and fun photo opportunities while sharing memories with old friends.
Saturday Night After-Party
The Class of 2002 reunion committee invites 25th reunion celebrants to join classmates following Saturday night’s Class Party. Join for a night cap, to reconnect with friends, great conversation, or simply to extend the fun. Classmates will gather for an informal meet-up immediately following the Class Party. No need to register. Just attend. Pay-as-you-go bar.

Day one of reunion concludes with our signature Welcome Back Party. As the sun sets, catch up with old friends over heavy appetizers, desserts, and beer, wine, and soda.
Alumni BBQ
Saturday, April 17 • Afternoon
Join classmates and their families for a fun-filled afternoon of great BBQ catered by Pappy’s Smokehouse. Beer, wine, and soda will be complimentary.
Goodbye Brunch
Sunday, April 19 • Morning
Gather with friends once more and toast to a successful reunion weekend. Enjoy classic brunch favorites and, of course, mimosas and Bloody Marys.

In celebration of the Class of 2002’s 25th Reunion, Colleen Conrado Ferguson, BFA ’06, and Tom Ferguson, MBA ’08, JD ’08, are pleased to offer a special class challenge. Their generous $500,000 commitment will match, dollar for dollar, all new, renewed, and multi-year pledge gifts made in honor of reunion.
WashU has played a meaningful role in both Colleen’s and Tom’s lives. Colleen’s undergraduate experience as a member of the Class of 2002 established a lifelong connection to the university, while Tom’s time as a graduate and law student further deepened their shared WashU ties.

Tiffany (Spriggs) Cruz, BS ’02, JD ’08, received Chapman University’s prestigious 2024 Woman of Distinction Award on March 27 for exemplifying outstanding leadership, demonstrating a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women, and making meaningful contributions to Chapman University and the greater community.
Joshua Finnell, AB ’02, MLA ’06, professor in the University Libraries at Colgate University, has been appointed to the Depository Library Council (DLC) for a three-year term by the U.S. Government Publishing Office.
Tescha Hawley, MSW ’02, was a finalist for the CNN Hero of the Year award in 2023. She was nominated for founding the Day Eagle Project, a nonprofit started to help Native Americans living on a reservation fight cancer.
Jonah Chiarenza, BS ’02, and Emily Lammert, BS ’02, in 2020 designed and built a custom “parklet” for the City of Melrose, Mass., as a volunteer effort to support outdoor economic and recreational activity during the pandemic.

The day that more than 2,500 students — and even more parents — have been waiting for is finally here. Nearly 10,000 people will share in the tradition and excitement of the University's 142nd Commencement today in Brookings Quadrangle.
Student speaker excels via academics, service
As soon as he set foot on campus his freshman year, Jason Green knew that Washington University was the place for him. "It was a very welcoming community," says Green, who as senior class president will give today's student Commencement address. "I felt like I belonged here. Not only did the University community receive me, but I thought it was a community where I could truly thrive.

The incoming freshman class is an exceptional group. The 1,495 students in the Class of 2002 constitute the largest class in the University's history. For their young years, the new students have amassed some impressive statistics. And not surprisingly so: They were culled from a record 16,200 applicants. The phenomenal success of this year's April Welcome contributed to the unprecedented class size. The annual event attracted a record number of prospective students to campus. Of the 1,500 who visited, about half chose to enroll.
